The canal was once crossed by a railway line here. On the right is the large Scotman's Flash. This lake is a result of the land sinking after coal mining. Now it is full of water and used as a boating lake. The flashes are also popular with wild foul and bird spotters. There is a anti-vehicle gate here. 02/07/2011
