Milepost 23 is missing the top of the post and part of the Liverpool plaque. It is on the side of the canal embankment and hidden by brambles for most of the year. It is opposite the Farmers Arms and has recently been repainted. The milestone is the first on the Liverpool end of the canal. The half mile post is hidden by long grasses for most of the year but is in good condition and has recently been repainted. .
